Your Safe Sun Plan
Your Safe Sun Plan
The most important thing you can do to maintain the beauty of your skin is to protect it from UV light. The sun's rays can trigger dark spots, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. We know you're following some basic rules (covering up at the beach and skipping tanning beds), but you may need to step up your SPF routine. Start with this advice:
- Put lotions on 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors. This gives the sunscreen enough time to be absorbed into your skin and offer you ultimate protection.
- Squeeze out an ounce and a half-the amount to fill an average shot glass. Coat your body in a thin even layer.
- Apply it all over. Put sunscreen on before you put your clothes on so you get every inch covered. Make sure to get ears, back and legs.
- Be gentle to your face. It's fine to use the same product on your face as your body, however, if your skin is more sensitive, apply only a face sunscreen.
- Reapply every two hours if your are laying around outside and every 30 minutes if you're doing something active that's causing you to sweat, even if the label isn't waterproof.
