PMS Bloating Remedy
If you ever suffer from premenstrual bloating each month, enlist this three-step plan to help beat the bloat:
- Beginning in the second half of your menstrual cycle, make celery part of your daily diet for a week to 10 days. (It's a mild diuretic)
- Increase your intake of potassium-rich foods (e.g, bananas) and water, which may reduce fluid retention.
- Take vitamin B6, up to 100 mg a day, as a supplement. (It's also a natural diuretic.) Again, beginning in the second half of your cycle, take 50 mg in the morning and 50 mg in the afternoon.
You'll find B6 tablets or capsules in your drugstore, grocery store or health food store. Check the ingredients of your multivitamin before you begin taking extra B6. If B6 is already included in your multivitamin, check with your doctor about possible side effects of excess B6.
