Herbal Sleep Soak Remedy
4 cups (480 g) powdered milk
2 cups (240 g) Epsom salt
2 cups (440 g) baking soda
1/4 cup (60 ml) liquid castile soap
15 drops lavender essential oil
8 drops chamomile essential oil
1 teaspoon (5 ml) isopropyl alcohol
it is well known that the ancient Romans were adept at the art of relaxation, and they regularly tapped into the soothing power of herbs to aid their efforts, using lavender, in particular, to scent their public bath waters, perfumes, and soaps. Try forgetting about modern life for a while with your own herbal bedtime bath ritual. Combine the milk, Epsom salt, and baking soda in a large bowl and stir with a spoon or whisk until well combined. Add the soap, essential oils, and alcohol. Stir well for several minutes to incorporate all ingredients (the mixture will be somewhat gritty). Store in a covered container and add 1 cup (220 g) to a warm bath (a too-hot bath before bedtime may make getting to sleep even more difficult).
