Slippery Elm Skin Paste
Slippery Elm Skin Paste
1 to 2 tablespoons (15 ml to 30 ml) slippery elm powder
Water, to make a paste
According to natural medicine experts, Native American healers relied on the dried inner bark of the slippery elm to treat a variety of skin conditions. Mix the slippery elm powder with water until a thick paste forms. This paste is loaded with emollients that may provide relief to otchy and inflammed skin. Apply a coat of the paste to the affected area and leave in place until it is dry. Rinse with tepid water and pat dry with a clean towel. Do not use if skin is ruptured.
