Arbutus (strawberry tree) Honey

The source of this rare and expensive honey is the strawberry tree, a beautiful evergreen that produces ezquisite white flowers in the autumn, Native to southwest Ireland and the Mediterranean, the tree takes its name from the small red fruit that it produces. Arbutus honey is amber in colour, with green and grey tones. It has a pungent aroma and bitter flavour that is very much an acquired taste. Arbutus honey is valued for its therapeutic qualities.
