Exfoliating Advice
Exfoliating is an absolute must since it boosts radiance, evens skin tone, unclogs pores, and diminishes fine lines. And since there are various ways you can slough, the trick is to pick a methods that’s right for your skin type. One rule that applies to everyone: Don’t use a chemical peel or microdermabrasion product more than once a week if your cleaners and moisturizers already contain exfoliating ingredients. Doing so can cause irritation and breakouts.
If Your Skin IsOily:
You can use an exfoliating face wash on acne-prone skin every day as long as the formula is meant for daily use. You can also try an at-home microdermabrasion kit-a more intense method of physical scrubbing that uses aluminum or salt crystals-once a week to help diminish the appearance of acne scars and large pores.
If Your Skin is Normal or Dry:
Normal and dry complexions can be buffed two or three times per weel with a mild microbead scrub (the synthetic calls are more gentle than ones that contain ground-up nuts or seeds). You should avoid microdermabrasion, which can be too harsh for your skin, and instead use a store-bought alpha-hydroxy chemical peel (such as one that contains glycolic and lactic acids) once aweek.
