Dust Mite Deterrent

Laundry soap of your choice, enough for one load 
25 drops or 1 tablespoon (15 ml) eucalyptus essential oil. depending on your washing load

If you find that you wake with allergy symptoms in the morning-itchy, puffy eyes and a stuffy nose-you might be suffering from the all-too-common dust mite allergy. Dust mites are microscopic bugs that feed off dead skin cells, so they tend to congregate in bedding. Fo those with allergies, the mites aren't the real problem; the problem is the protein in the waste they leave behind. Research has shown that eucalyptus essential oil, used regularly in the laundry, can help keep dust mites at bay. If you have a top-loading machine, start your wash as usual, using the laundry soap of your choice. Once the washer is filled, open the top and add 25 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, the let the machine finish the load as usual. If you have a front-loading machine, add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of eucalyptus oil to an entire bottle of laundry soap to achieve the same effect. Just make sure to shake well to distribute oil.
