Some cast-iron cookware is coated in colored enamel, which not only makes it strikingly beautiful but also rustproof and nonreactive. The downside is that over time this type of cookware is prone to discolorations. To gently remove stains, mix equal parts salt and baking soda and add a small amount of water to make a paste. Apply the past to the cookware and scrub with a nylon sponge. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth.
