- Begin performing Kegel exercises at least 10 times a day. To do them, pull in or "squeeze" your pelvic muscles as if you were trying to stop the flow of urine or keep from passing gas. Count to 10 as you hold the contraction. Relax, then repeat 10 times. You can do this as you sit at your desk or watch TV. No one will be the wiser.
- Go to the bathroom whenever you feel the slightest urge. Gradually increase the amount of time between bathroom visits until your urine leakage stops.
- While you're waiting for results from steps 1 and 2, minimize leakage and embarrassment by curbing the amount of liquid you drink before leaving the house and wearing protective padding. Add a drop of peppermint or grapefruit essential oil to the pad to help control odor.
