Vegan Substitutes for Milk
Soya Milk:
This is commonly used as a replacement for dairy milk. Various types of soya milk are available, including sweetened, unsweetened, concentrated, ready-to-drink and powdered. Flavored varieties of Soya milk can be used in the same way as cow's milk- in tea, coffee, custard, rice pudding, creamed soup, white sauce or poured over breakfast cereal.
Other Milks:
Rice, oat, pea and nut milks are available from health food stores. To make your own nut milk, add a handful of blanched almonds or cashews to 475ml/16 fl oz 2 cups cold water and liquidize until smooth and creamy.
