Is "the hair of the dog that bit you" – in other words, another drink – a way to counteract a hangover? Although we don't recommend this remedy (it's a sign of an alcohol problem), there is some logic behind it. A hangover is caused primarily by alcohol withdrawl, and having another drink bathes your brain cells in alcohol, reducing hangover symptoms. The traditional post-party Bloody Mary also contains valuable vitmains and electrolytes. But the benefits are temporary. Unless you plan to continue drinking indefinitely, your brain will eventually go through alcohol withdrawal again and your hangover will return.
